Notebook belonging to Alexander Carmichael and used by both him and another user, probably a family member. The most notable item relates to his son Eoghan leaving home for Africa. Items written by the other user appear to be quotations in preparation for a piece of written work. There are a number of quotations and sayings copied by Carmichael himself and a good number of names and addresses of people, probably all Gaels, living in Glasgow or Edinburgh, some of whom are noted as having folklore of some sort. There are also some etymological notes. Only nine of the thirty two folios in the notebook contain text.
